Molten Chocolate Lava Cupcake

We thought that making anything involving molten chocolate would involve a lot of skills and hard work. We were so wrong! We found this quick and easy recipe for Molten Chocolate Lava Cupcake.


2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup caster sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1 1/3 cups plain flour

1/2 cup dutch cocoa

Pinch of salt


– mix plain flour, dutch cocoa, sugar, baking powder, salt and mix well

– add vegetable oil, eggs, 1/2 cup milk and mix well

– gradually add in remaining 1/2 cup milk while mixing

– fill muffin pan with batter (about 2/3 full each)

– bake 12 to 15 minutes at 180 degrees celsius

– when tops start to form dome, tap muffin pan gently (a small part in the middle of the cupcake should wobble slightly – this means it’s ready to be taken out)
